Killing those who leave Islam is definitely a sign of theological poverty.

If the quality of a belief system is so inadequate that it has to use death threats to maintain the loyalty of its believers, then such a religion is created by men and not by God.

58:22

You will not find a people who believe in Allah and the Last Day who have affection for those who oppose Allah and His Messenger, even if they were their fathers or their sons or their brothers or their relatives.—–

According to Ibn Kathir’s account, this verse refers to a number of Muslims who slaughtered their own non-Muslim relatives: one killed his non-Muslim father, another his non-Muslim brother, a third – Abu Bakr, the first caliph and successor. of the Prophet – tried to kill his non-Muslim son, and Umar, the second caliph, also killed his family members.

16:106 Whoever disbelieves in Allah after having believed, and whose breast is open to disbelief, for him is wrath from Allah and for him is a great punishment

3: 85 And whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted of him

47:25 Indeed, Satan has made it easy for those who turn their backs and aroused their desires.

47:38 And whoever turns away (from the Truth), they will be replaced, and they will not be your equals.

88:23-24 But whoever turns away and disbelieves, Allah will punish him with the severest punishment [death penalty].

3:90 Whoever disbelieves and increases in disbelief after having believed, their repentance will never be accepted.

4:80 Whoever turns away from Allah, We have not sent for them a guardian [from violence].

5:54 Those who believe who turn away will soon be replaced.

5:32 Therefore We have decreed for the Children of Israel that whoever kills a person, unless it is for murder or to spread mischief in the land, it is as if he has killed the entire people. If he saves a life, it is as if he has saved the lives of the entire people.

4:89 If they turn away after believing, seize them and kill them wherever they may be.

42:16-18

Those who dispute Allah after they have accepted Him, there is wrath upon them, and a severe punishment for those who have gone astray.

As for this boy, his parents were believers, but we feared that he would force them into error and disbelief. So we wanted their Lord to replace the son with a better son, more pure and virtuous. [This verse is the theological basis for honor killings]

8:38. Say to those who disbelieve: If they desist (from disbelief), their past will be forgiven. But if they return (to it), then the examples of those (who were punished) before them have gone before them (as a warning).

33:57

Indeed, those who annoy Allah and His Messenger, Allah has cursed them in this world and in the Hereafter, and has prepared for them a humiliating punishment.

64:14

O you who believe! Surely, among your wives and your children are enemies for you (i.e., those who can prevent you from of obedience to Allah), so beware of them! But if you forgive (them) and overlook and pardon (their faults), then indeed Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

It is worth noting that many other pre-modern religions also had similar rules regarding apostasy. Leaving the religion entailed risks. Judaism had such a law, which was later abolished. Islam has never adapted its theology to the times.
According to the Qur’an, transmitted by Muhammad [through his alter ego Allah], apostasy is always punishable by death or at least by violence.
In order to preserve the religion, Muhammad made a law that in case of flight or desertion, execution followed;

In Islam, apostasy after having believed is tantamount to treason and is proof that in Islam, politics and religion are inextricably linked.

Bukhari 52:260 – “The Prophet said, ‘If someone (a Muslim) abandons his religion, kill him.’

Bukhari 83:37 – “The Apostle of Allah does not kill in vain, except in one of the following three cases:

(1) a person who has killed another Muslim unjustly.
(2) a married person who commits illegal sexual intercourse.
(3) a person who has deserted from Islam.”

Bukhari 84:57 – “[In the words of] the Apostle of Allah, ‘whoever changes his Islamic religion, kill him.’”

Many other verses in the Quran support this clear compilation of Bukhari, which indicates killing apostates.

Quranic verses 2:217, 9:73-74, 88:21, and 9:66 make this clear again. The most serious offense against the Mohammedan cult is when a Muslim renounces his faith and joins the Jews. A worse act cannot be done against Allah.
Killing apostates is a clear sign of a cult, not a religion. Keeping a group together by sowing fear emphasizes its poverty.
When the epileptic and quite insane prophet Mohammed died in 632 AD as a result of eating a poisoned leg of lamb, many Arab tribes left Islam. In retaliation, these deserters were slaughtered in a war by the second caliph Abu Bakr. This event is called the Ridda Wars. Or wars against apostasy.

Islam is the most violent and coercive cult in history. Killing those who leave Mohammedanism, or killing those who were born Muslim but do not want to follow Islam, is an important part of this cult. So Mohammed wanted to maintain his power over people by killing those who did not want to follow his faith. It is a very effective and radical method of exercising totalitarian control. No other interpretation of Islamic history can reveal a different conclusion.
