The Quran defines the boundaries of permissible thinking. Any attempt to question this framework is met with condemnation and threats.
The so-called prophethood is merely a political instrument, which enables its practitioner to realize his ambitions under the pretext of spirituality. In order to keep the curious human mind in check, prophethood discourages free will, which is the source of free thought, inquiry and social progress. Instead, Islam imposes on man complete hegemony of destiny, and urges him on like a donkey under threats.
Do not openly test the Quran for logic or common sense, but be silent and obedient. Like the mafia: keep silent about lies, misconceptions and myths in the Quran, and obey the godfather. Only then will you be safe.
Those who freely express their conscience and critical thinking are stigmatized and threatened with death because Muhammad could not win such discussions. So he sought arguments that would stop criticism and doubt to prevent intellectual escape:
2:10
In their hearts is a disease (doubt and hypocrisy)
6:114
Do not be of those who doubt.
2:23
If you are in doubt about Islam, then call your helpers besides Allah, if you are truthful.
3:60
Those who doubt or dispute are liars. Ask Allah in fervent anger to curse them.
3:7
Those who dispute seek discord and misinterpretation.
3:65
Those who dispute about religion do not understand.
5:101 and 102
Do not ask for revelations that would disturb you. Those who did so before became apostates.
41:29
Those who ask for proof will be trampled underfoot and condemned to the “lowest of creatures.”
6:121
Those who disbelieve in Islam and dispute with you are from the devil.
36:47-54
The disbelievers said: Why should we feed believers whom, if Allah Almighty wills, He Himself can feed?
Answer: You are in error. The only thing they can expect is an explosion, which will hit them, and they will not return to their families.
Conclusion: Muhammad could not convince them, he could not prove anything, what was left for him was violence to silence criticism. Moral of the story; keep silent and you are safe.
6:4-6
Those who turn away from Our signs and mock at them, will be destroyed.
6:10-11
Those who mock at Islam will be killed
8:46
Do not fall into disputes, for it will make you waver in your faith.
13:13
When they dispute, Allah is severe in punishment.
18:56-59
Whoever questions the revelations is a disbeliever and a liar. And they take My signs and all that they are warned as a joke. And We have appointed a term for their destruction.
22:8-9
For those who dispute about Islam without knowledge and lead others away from the faith, there is disgrace in this world and a burning hell in the Hereafter
22:19
Those who disbelieve and oppose Allah with reason, there will be a fire in them.
22:25
Those who disbelieve and hinder people from the path of Allah will have a painful punishment.
22:55
Whoever doubts will be in Hell.
42:35
Whoever disputes the signs will be punished.
11:47
Do not ask questions about what you have no knowledge, otherwise you will be among the losers [in Hell].
31:20-24
Those who doubt Allah have no knowledge, no guidance, and no illuminating Book. We grant them enjoyment for a while; then they will be forced to suffer a great punishment.
Sura 36:49
Those who dispute await a sudden retribution.
40:35
Those who dispute the signs of Allah without any authority are blameworthy, arrogant and oppressive.
40:4
Whoever disputes the words of Allah is a disbeliever. Let not their success in business be admired by you.
40:5
People plotted against Me and disputed with false arguments about the Truth. Then I seized them and how terrible was My punishment.
40:56
Those who dispute the signs of Allah with arguments are the blind and the evil.
42:16-18
And those who dispute Allah after they have accepted Him, their disputes are worthless in the sight of their Lord, and there is wrath upon them and a severe punishment for those who have gone astray.
43:58-62
And they say: Are our gods better or is He better? They say this only to dispute. Indeed, they are a contentious people under the influence of Satan
50:25
Whoever wavers concerning faith is in transgression.
40:69-72
Have you seen those who dispute about the signs of Allah? Those who deny the Book will be dragged into boiling water with shackles and chains around their necks, and thrown into the Fire.
49:15. Only those are the believers who believe in Allah and His Messenger and doubt not afterward, but strive with their wealth and their lives in the Cause of Allah. They! They are the truthful.
Religion discourages critical thinking, and that is a problem.
Religion tells us not to ask questions, and the holy book is considered the absolute truth. It is downright harmful to society.
What would we be if we didn’t ask questions? All the incredible things that science has discovered are the result of our doubts.
Critical thinking and the right to doubt are the foundation of a good society.
